Gonorrhea

“At the beginning of the twentieth century gonorrhea was probably the most frequent disease treated by practicing physicians, and estimates of the number of men who had had gonorrhea at least once varied from 48 to 99 percent. In World War I, among a million men drafted in this country, 4.5 percent had gonorrhea when they were examined” (Dowling 1, 104).
