According to 2,100 doctors, who responded anonymously, “on average they believed 21% of everything done in medicine is unnecessary . . . the doctors in that survey estimated that 22% of prescription medications, 25% of medical tests, and 11% of procedures are unnecessary (Makaray, 4).
