British “educated” surgeons petition Parliament for legal separation from the barbers  dissolving of London Company of Barber-Surgeons (which included educated surgeons) and establishment of independent Company of surgeons, which in 1800 became the Royal College of Surgeons, and in 1843 the Royal College of Surgeons of England (Rutkow, 101; J.O.Robinson).
