Establishment of Women’s Hospital of Philadelphia, to which location WMC moved in 1862 (Peitzman, 24-26).  Founding of the Philadelphia Drug Exchange  in January to provide a central location for the sale of drugs, which soon became a trade association controlling competition among Philadelphia merchants (Liebenau, 23).
