NY state passes law requiring all public schools in state to exclude from enrollment any pupil who could not present proof of vaccination. The Jones-Tallett amendment of 1915 modified the law so that it applied only to the 10 cities in NY with population over 50,000, while extending compulsory vaccination to private and parochial schools, which had previously been exempt Colgrove, 185-187).
