Society of Superintendents of Training [Nursing] Schools creates the Nurses Associated Alumnae of U.S. and Canada, whose name changed in 1911 to American Nurses Association, at which time it admitted individual states, meaning no black nurses from DC or southern states (Reverby, 123-124; D’Antonio, 135).
