Closing of Blackwell’s Women’s Medical College of the New York Infirmary, with many students migrating to Cornell Medical College, which opened in 1898 and not only admitted women but allowed women to teach and to serve as trustees. The Infirmary itself would remain in existence at Stuyvesant Square until 1981 (Nimura, 264-65).
