Metropolitan Life Insurance Company begins “experiment” of insurance payment for home nursing, paying Henry Street Settlement Nurses (NYC) 50 cents per visit. Nursing service used by one to three patients per thousand policies (Buhler-Wilkerson, 147-149) and, by 1915, 14.46 of every thousand policies (153). Recipients of these visiting nurse services were the weekly-premium-paying policyholders of MLI’s Industrial Department (for industrial classes) (152).
