Paul Hallopeau performs first decortication (removal of adherent pericardium from front of heart) in case of adhesive pericarditis (even though Weill and Delorme in 1895 independently proposed the procedure for removal of thickened pericardium in constrictive pericarditis) (Richardson, 44-45).
