1916-17

V. P. Filatov (Ukraine), Hugo Ganzer (Berlin), and Harold Gillies (England) independently devise and use the tubed pedicle flap in reconstructive facial surgery of WWI soldiers (see WWI, tubed pedicle flap). Only Gillies used it extensively and refined and developed the technique (Brain 161-164).
