Radiometer develops the world’s first commercially available blood gas analyzer. Specifically, as polio epidemic swept across Europe, Professor Poul Astrup and anesthesiologist Bjørn Ibsen discovered that Radiometer pH meters could be used to measure the pH value in blood (Livsværk).
