In Page v. Celebrezze, Judge John R. Brown (Eisenhower Republican) rules that subjective pain is “real,” even in absence of objective clinical and laboratory findings, and deserving of compensation (via Social Security disability payments): “The Brown ruling established a liberal pain standard in American litigation and jurisprudence. . . . A generous theory of felt pain as true pain emerged” (Wailoo II).
