Bonadonna and Veronesis (Italian surgeon & chemotherapist) NCI trial in Milan shows that “adjuvant chemotherapy” with tamoxifen among women surgically “cured” of breast cancer led to relapse rates 50% lower than surgically cured women who did not. The effect was pronounced among women over 50; Bernie Fisher reanalyzed the cures in 1985 and found the effect of tamoxifen treatment was even more dramatic (Mukherjee, 220-222).
